Why It's Worth It

With Coverage vs. Without

Powertrain repairs are among the most expensive bills a car owner can face. Here's what that looks like with and without this plan.

Situation
With Coverage
Without Coverage
Engine Rebuild / Replacement Seized pistons, spun bearings, cracked block Full cost out of pocket $3,000–$8,000+
Transmission Replacement Failed clutch pack, torque converter, solenoids Full cost out of pocket $2,500–$5,000+
CV Axle / Drive Shaft Failure Torn boot, failed joint, vibration under load Full cost out of pocket $400–$1,200
Timing Chain / Belt Failure Jumped timing, engine won't start or misfires Full cost out of pocket $1,000–$2,500
Water Pump Failure Coolant leak, overheating, engine damage risk Full cost out of pocket $400–$800
Peace of Mind on the Road Knowing a breakdown won't mean a massive bill Fully exposed to repair costs One failure can cost more than the plan
Potential Exposure Deductible per visit only Up to $10,000+ per incident

Repair cost estimates are industry averages and may vary by vehicle, region, and labor rate. Ask our team for plan pricing specific to your vehicle.

Using Your Plan

How to File a Claim

If a covered component fails, here's how to get your vehicle repaired quickly and correctly.

01

Stop Driving & Protect the Vehicle

If you notice symptoms of a covered failure — unusual noise, loss of power, warning lights — stop driving when safe to do so. Continued operation after a failure may void coverage for resulting damage.

02

Call Dealer General Warranty Before Any Repairs

Contact Dealer General Warranty, Inc. directly at the number listed in your product agreement before authorizing any repair work. Pre-authorization is required for all claims.

03

Take the Vehicle to an Approved Repair Facility

Bring your vehicle to Honda of Sarasota's Honda-certified service center or another licensed repair facility authorized under your plan terms.

04

Get Back on the Road

Once the repair is approved and completed, the covered cost is handled directly through the plan. Review your product agreement for deductible details and coverage limits.

Common Questions About This Plan

No. This is a separate, optional vehicle service contract administered by Dealer General Warranty, Inc. — it is not an extension of Honda's manufacturer warranty. Coverage terms regarding approved repair facilities vary by agreement. Many plans allow repairs at any licensed repair facility, while others may have specific requirements. Always call Dealer General Warranty before authorizing repairs to confirm your facility is eligible and to receive pre-authorization. Check your product agreement for details.

Depending on your plan terms, you may be responsible for a deductible per repair visit. The covered repair cost beyond that deductible is handled by the plan. Specific deductible amounts and per-repair limits are detailed in your product agreement — ask our finance team for a clear explanation of your plan's structure before you sign.

Many vehicle service contracts, including plans administered by Dealer General Warranty, include a transferability option that can add value at resale. Refer to your specific product agreement for transfer provisions, any associated fees, and eligibility requirements.

Roadside assistance availability depends on the specific plan you've enrolled in. New Honda vehicles also include Honda's factory roadside assistance during the manufacturer warranty period.
